Movember Me?

Movember in AnthemHaven’t heard of Movember? Well, every November, men from around the world pledge to grow a “mo” (aka: moustache) to raise money for prostate and testicular cancer awareness and to help fund cure & treatment research. We, here at NevadaAnthem.com, find it to be a supremely worthy cause, full of testosterone (and fun!). To participate, it’s so simple: sign up at Movember.com, spread the word about your pledge & solicit donations, and then, beginning on Movember – er, November – 1st, stop shaving until the end of Movember. Be sure to share photos with your donors & fellow Movember-ers. You might be surprised at how macho you’ll feel. You can learn more about Movember at Movember.com!

Forbes Magazine Rates Anthem’s Community #2 Safest in the Country!

Henderson 2 Best City in the Country

For those of us who live in or around Anthem, this might be something we could have guessed. Forbes Magazine just released a list of the nation’s safest cities, and Henderson – where Anthem sits – is #2!

The City of Henderson is no stranger to quality lifestyle accolades. Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live” list has featured our little city not once, but twice! We’ve also been featured as a Best Low-Tax Place to Retire by US News & World Report, a Most Secure City by Farmers Insurance, and one of 100 Best Places to Live and Launch a Business by Fortune Small Business Magazine. Second only to Plano, Texas, on this list, Henderson beat out other top-ten finalist cities like Lincoln, NE, Colorado Springs, CO, and San Jose, CA.

The magazine considered a list of more than 70 cities, evaluating for violent crime & traffic rates, according to the statistics reported by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The list also indicates that Henderson’s median income is higher than the national average at $61,861, and the local poverty rate is below the national average at only 7%.

Thank you, Henderson Police, Fire, and Rescue workers, for helping to make our city the 2nd safest in the entire country! We’re all very grateful for your hard work.

Shameless Plug: An Amazing Charity Needs Anthem’s Support

Animal Adoption in Anthem

Representatives from NevadaAnthem.com were delighted to recently attend the 2nd Annual Benefit Luncheon for Heaven Can Wait Animal Society at the nearby M Resort. Featuring live and silent auctions as well as entertainer/impressionist/singer Tom Stevens, this beautiful event funds one of the valley’s most benefiting charities, Heaven Can Wait Animal Society. Nearly every expense for the luncheon was donated, as were literally hundreds of silent auction, live auction, attendee gifts, and for-sale items.

Nearly 40,000 unclaimed animals are euthanized in the Clark County area shelters every year. Heaven Can Wait, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization was founded in 2000 to address the problem head-on. Since then, Heaven Can Wait has grown immensely, taking and placing as many adoptable animals as it can accommodate, and spaying/neutering nearly 10,000 animals a year. Through generous donations and responsible management, it has recently opened two large facilities including a low/no-cost spay/neuter clinic near downtown Las Vegas and has been gifted 2.4 acres adjacent to the Henderson Animal Shelter for a future partnership facility.

Heaven Can Wait is in desperate need of Anthem’s support. If you would like to send a donation or volunteer to help at one of their facilities, visit http://www.HCWS.org/. Anything you could give would be appreciated.
