Giving Thanks

We can almost smell the turkey roasting and the cornbread baking, so Thanksgiving is nearly here. Fantastic turkey is one thing many Anthem-ians will be grateful for tomorrow, but we here at NevadaAnthem.com wish our family, friends, and neighbors a different type of gratitude. We are so blessed to have each of you in our lives, present and future. And we hope you have something so intangible for which to be thankful tomorrow and every day. If so, please say a prayer or wish for those who are not so blessed, in hopes that their Thanksgiving holiday will be much better this time next year.

And, for those of you out braving the crowds for Black Friday, be sure to eat your turkey early in the day! With its healthy dose of tryptophan (the hormone that makes us all sleepy after stuffing our birds and then ourselves), you’ll want to nap early so you can be up early for all the best sales. Be safe, and go stimulate the local economy!

The Day After Black Friday

Shop Anthem Small BusinessesIf awakening at 1:15am to rush to the big-box electronics store down the street isn’t your thing, we understand. Perfectly. For those of us who enjoy slumber, especially when it becomes scarce during the holidays, there is a solution! Every year, the day after Black Friday is known as Small Business Saturday. We, here at NevadaAnthem.com, are in fact a small business. So, if you want to buy or sell a house or get a tenant for your home in/around Anthem, then definitely get in touch with us this Saturday. Hehe…

_

But, we are not the only Henderson-based small business, and certainly not the only Las Vegas valley-based small business. In Anthem alone, there are hundreds. We recommend Bread & Butter bakery for brunch or coffee, and its sister (brother?) shop, Meat and 3 for lunch or dinner, both on south Eastern at Sunridge Heights. Lemontree Home Decor has fantastic furnishings to get your home in the holiday spirit. And, if you’ve been putting off a haircut in all your Thanksgiving fanfare, be sure to swing by the Anthem Hills Barber Shop. So, get a jump-start on your holiday shopping by shopping local this Saturday, and support your family, friends, and neighbors at the same time. On behalf of all small business owners, we say “thanks!”

Happy Nevada Day!

Nevada Day in AnthemNot many states can claim a lineage so honorable as Nevada’s. Of course, we’re biased, but how many other states can claim that they were born during the Civil War in order to preserve our great Union and abolish slavery? Only one: West Virginia. It’s pretty awe-inspiring when you really think about it. And, since NevadaAnthem.com has its fair share of native Nevadans, we wanted to point that out to all of our welcomed transplants.

If we’re being honest, though, there is one more awesome claim-to-fame about Nevada Day: it always falls on Halloween! So, to all you Gardnerville Gouls and Virginia City Vampires, be sure to have a fabulous Hallowee…er, Nevada Day!

Movember Me?

Movember in AnthemHaven’t heard of Movember? Well, every November, men from around the world pledge to grow a “mo” (aka: moustache) to raise money for prostate and testicular cancer awareness and to help fund cure & treatment research. We, here at NevadaAnthem.com, find it to be a supremely worthy cause, full of testosterone (and fun!). To participate, it’s so simple: sign up at Movember.com, spread the word about your pledge & solicit donations, and then, beginning on Movember – er, November – 1st, stop shaving until the end of Movember. Be sure to share photos with your donors & fellow Movember-ers. You might be surprised at how macho you’ll feel. You can learn more about Movember at Movember.com!

Merry Christmas in Anthem!

A Very Merry Christmas in Anthem!

A Very Merry Christmas in Anthem!

We wish our Anthem family – and extended families – a very safe, happy, and Merry Christmas! We hope you have a wonderful day, spent with those you love most.

We will be stopping by Bread and Butter’s Christmas Open House to pick up some goodies and spread cheer! By all means, you’re welcome to swing by and wish Chef Chris a happy holiday! We can’t possibly recommend the sourdough waffles enough…d-lish is an understatement!
